Hey guys! I have had this mani on the brain for like a month, especially now that we are creeping up on Fall. I’m a little disappointed in the execution so I think I’ll be revisiting these when it gets a little closer to Halloween! I’ll link the YouTube tutorial here as soon as it is available.
To begin I gathered up some pink and red polishes, I had originally added a yellow in but I didn’t like the end result. From Left to right this is: black acrylic paint, Zoya Purity, Zoya Kitridge, Zoya America, Zoya Elisa, Fresh Paint Honeydew, KB SHimmer Clearly On Top, white acrylic paint, a small detail brush, a dotting tool, and some foil for a palette if you don’t have a better one.
I started with a nice white base of 1 coat of Purity on all of my nails. Then I took Elisa and America and dipped my dotting tool into both colors. Then a made a swirl similar to the bird nest method but in little circles for roses. I liked that the white peeked out much like the details of petals. I filled my whole nail with red circles, then randomly went back over those with Kitridge and did the same thing, swirling in a circle. Once I liked how the roses were forming up I added in little green dabs of Honeydew for my “leaves.” Next I went in with my striping brush and white acrylic paint and added in some definition and details in the flowers and leaves. Once that dried I topcoated with Clearly On Top and this was the end result:
Next is where I got a little lost, I went in with my black acrylic paint and my detail brush and made my skull outline. Then I blackened out the eye and nose holes and my proportions were allll off lol! I think it might be better to start with the facial features and then outline the skull shape. I then filled in the area outside the skull with black acrylic polish and added in some white acrylic teeth. Once that was done I topcoated with Clearly On Top once more!
Once that was dry I really wanted to add a matte topcoat on all that black, so here was the final result:
So thats it for today guys, I have a few more nail art ideas rattling around in my brain so stay tuned!
