Hey guys! For today’s tutorial I have a super fun neon “waterspot” mani I did for my maniswap with @polishedallthetime! Definitely check out her original and all the other awesome nail art she has done!
To start I laid down a nice 1 coat base of Zoya Purity.
This is going to help the neons pop much easier in fewer applications. After that was nice and dry I used Yuppie Yellow, Glam Green, Outrageous Orange, Pumped Pink, and Bouncin’ Blue from the Shinespark Polish 80’s neon collection! I painted from lightest color to darkest using random lines to create a sort of neon plaid. Here is how they turned out:
I really liked the effect that gave and totally would recreate it! Next I used OPI’s Black Spotted, you could also do a waterspotting method using black polish and an alcohol based spray but if you can get your hands on this polish it is so much easier! It’s available right now on Amazon.com here. Just once easy coat on top of the plaid with just a little bit of bubble manipulation and minimal cleanup. I topcoated the Black Spotted immediately with KB Shimmer’s Clearly On Top and I really feel like that helped cut down the cracking issue Black Spotted can sometimes get.
I did go over these with a matte topcoat (NYC “You Matte Me Crazy”) and I really like the finished effect!
So that’s it for today guys, big big thanks to @polishedallthetime for mani swapping with me and stay tuned for some pretty epic swatches coming soon!
