Ipsy | August 2015

Hey guys, today I have my August 2015 Ipsy bag to review! Mine came a little bit later than average this month, I didn’t get it until the 19th! I had my fingers crossed so tight for the Trustfund Polish but alas, these are the items I did get:

Beauty Without Cruelty Leave In Hair Conditoiner
Beauty Without Cruelty Leave In Hair Conditioner

First thing I see is the Beauty Without Cruelty Leave In Conditioner. It retails at $10.95 for a full size bottle, the sample is 2oz. so a nice size! It is described as:

“BWC Leave-In Conditioner maximizes your hair’s lustre, body, and manageability. This light, plant-based formula provides all-day protection from harsh environmental elements, chemical treatments, and heat styling. Pro-vitamin B-5 and jojoba combined with premium aroma-therapeutic essential oils condition and protect. It also works as an effective, leave-in detangler for all hair types, especially chemically treated. Paraben-free, 100% Vegan”

I found it to be a little spicy smelling, owing to all the chamomile, lavender, and rosemary oils probably but so far this is a great little product! I didn’t weigh my hair down or make it greasy and the smell wasn’t too strong that it lingered. It has the consistency of a nice hand lotion I am definitely glad to be adding this product to my hair-care regimen. Get 15% off with code “ipsyglam”

City Color HD Powder
City Color HD Powder

The next item in my bag is the Color City HD Powder, it retails at $5.99 for 7 grams of product. The sample size in my bag is 4g, so a nice sized sample. The HD Powder is described as:

“City Color HD Powder sets your foundation for a smooth, matte finish. This finely-milled powder helps blur any imperfections and fills in fine lines to make sure you are always camera-ready. The translucent shade creates a shine-free and airbrushed look that works with all skin tones! 100% Silica Powder, Matte finish, Prevents shine, Softens and evens out fine lines, imperfections, and pores.”

This is true to their word an extremely fine milled powder, it did get a little bit messy for me when applying but the finish was very soft and natural and it felt nice on my face. Use coupon code “IPSY30HD” for a free contouring pallet with $30 purchase.

Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eyeliner Pen in Black

My sad, tired eye
My sad, tired eye. That cat eye though!

The next item in my bag is the Starlook’s Luxe Longwear eyeliner pen in the shade black. This retails for $19.00. It doesn’t say how much product you get on the website but the size I received from Ipsy was 0.2 oz. This eyeliner is described as:

“This liner is a staple product for every makeup lover, this felt tipped pen makes it impeccably easy to create flawless eye lines of any variety. Whether daily, nightly, or anytime in between, Starlooks Eye Liner Pen enhances all eye colors, shapes, and sizes with its exclusive, incomparable Pro formula! Available in black, which is universally flattering for all complexions. Applies smoothly, dries quickly, and lasts all day (or night) long!”

The felt tip end does make it really easy to control the size and shape of your eyeliner and the formula felt like it dried fairly quickly. It is not as opaque on one swipe as a prefer in an eyeliner and I did have to do a few swipes before I got it to the level of darkness that makes my soul happy. It did preform great in my waterline too, I didn’t have any bleeding into my eye and it stay put very well! You can use coupon code “IPSY”for 20% off.

Swissco Soft Touch Slant Tweezers
Swissco Soft Touch Slant Tweezers

Next item in my bag is the Soft Touch Slanted Tweezers from Swissco. I couldn’t find it in a single on their website but it retails at $10 for a 2 pack. These are described as:

“This stylish, high quality stainless steel tweezer has a special, soft touch coating that provides a non-slip grip that ensures precise tweezing. They’re perfect for eliminating even the most stubborn hairs. Weight: .25 lbs”

I do like that they have a stainless steel tip with a large area for gripping. They do a great job at tweezing small hairs but I am more looking forward to using these for nail art! All in all this is a nice, hefty pair of tweezers.

Hikari Lipgloss in "Salsa"
Hikari Lipgloss in “Salsa”

The last item in my bag is the Hikari Lipgloss in the shade “salsa.” It retails for $13.00, the size sent to my by Ipsy was 0.1 fl oz. This lipgloss is described as:

“Check out Hikari’s collection of gorgeous, high-shine matte lip glosses. With these high-pigment lip glosses you can wear them alone or layer them over your favorite lipstick to create intense new colors. They will give you the perfect sultry lip with just the right amount of shine!”

This is a highly pigmented lipgloss and the color is very flattering. Even though it is described as a “classic red” it leaned very orange for me. The doe foot applicator was nice, and it leaves a perfect glossy finish without being tacky. It wore like a typical lipgloss, and I did need to reapply after an hour or so. You can use coupon code “hikari30” for 30% off as well as a free gift with purchase!

  1. Great review! & Adorable nail art! I’m not the least bit patient enough for that haha! I couldn’t get the HD powder from last month’s bag to work out for me, way too loose. I think I prefer pressed. & I love BWC! I got a cleanser in a bag a while ago & it was so great! Do you mind checking out my review of this month’s bag? Thanks (:
