Hey guys! Today I combined the #threadlychallenge prompt this week of “plaid” with todays color prompt of the 31 days of color being hosted by Chalkboard Nails, blue! I was inspired by this photo from shutterstock.com:

To begin I started with my favorite basecoat, the Nail Growth Stimulator from Qtica! I always, always use this basecoat, even when swatching! It dries incredibly fast and I haven’t had a break since I began using it.

Next I laid down a white base using 2 coats of Purity from Zoya.

Next I used Ultra Violet from the Bleached Neons collection by Maybelline Color Show and added a few drops directly on to my Uber Mat by Uber Chic. This mat is like the best thing ever!! Here is a test I did for the design using the mat, the best part is the polish peeled right up after testing! No more wasting tons of swatch sticks or paper for me!

I then took a fan brush and loaded a portion in the middle with the purple polish and then lightly dragged the brush down my nail first vertically and then horizontally.

Between colors I cleaned my fan brush off using 100% acetone and my super cute cut glass dappen dish (that’s actually for acrylic powder, but whatever lol!) from bornprettystore.com.

The next color I loaded was Naomi from Virtuous Polish! I only loaded 2 spikes with polish this time and dragged it both horizontally and vertically again!

I cleaned my brush off in my dappen dish once more and then loaded only one spike with Temperance from Virtuous Polish. To get a more defined line I turned my brush to the side and reloaded with polish as was needed.

I topped everything with an easy coat of Flash Dry from Bohemian Polish (this topcoat was sent to me for review.) It did a great job at not smearing my lines and added a gorgeous level shine! But then of course I *had* to matte them out just to see what it looked like lol! Here are the finished results:

So thats it for today, thanks so much for reading along and stay tuned for day 6 tomorrow!
