Hey guys! I know I’ve been M.I.A. for nearly a week and I missed sooo many days of the 31 days of color challenge but I am finally getting over a monster of a cold and figured I would jump right back in! These originally started as my Day 21 (based on a color) nails as I have been dying to do a gold + scattered holographic combo and they kind of morphed into a Day 23/24 mani (based on a movie/book) mani instead!

I began with 2 coats of Ziv by Zoya, this is such a flaky, sparkly metallic gold and definitely on my must have list!

Next I added one coat of Fairy Dust by China Glaze for a very subtle sparkle, it didn’t pick up very well on camera but it was completely stunning in person and I’m sure it’s a combo I’ll repeat as we head in closer to the holidays!

As a side note, I really need to figure out what to do with all of my practice scrapes I peel off of my Ubermat!

Next I used a picture from tex.stackexchange.com as inspiration for the script which appears on the ring when exposed to fire. “The writing, which at first was as clear as red flame…”

I used liquid latex and a small detail brush and went around my cuticle area and also freehanded the script onto my nails. I wanted to keep it as close to the movie version as I could where the script shines out bright gold. I made sure to leave a tail of latex at both the beginning and end (on either side of my nail) to make it easier to remove.

Next I went in with GuildedCopper, and Bronze from M Polish and used a makeup sponge to dab them on in the same manner I would a gradient, only I added the color in random dots instead of stripes. I dabbed the makeup sponge directly over the liquid latex, then used tweezers to remove the latex as soon as I could.

This is how they look without topcoat, I kind of really prefer the ruggedness of this look!

And here is the finished mani topped with Clearly On Top fast dry topcoat from KB Shimmer! What are your thoughts? My hubs insisted I should have done the script print much smaller, but I kind of like them just the way they are! What are some of your favorite book series? Thanks so much for reading along guys and stay tuned for day 25 tomorrow!
