Blood Splatter Nails

Well after two horrendous nail fails today I have some super simple blood splatter nails to share with you! I did these for the holo #wnac2015 prompt and I wish I had gotten them done in time to get a nice sun shot of all of that holo! One of my fails this morning prompted me to make this lovely meme:

Splatter fail

I had originally tried to make decals to work around having to do all of the blood splatter cleanup but after I cleaned up my first attempt I noticed that the red holo polish I was using (Love Bites from Glitter Gal Aus) left behind a hint of orange on my Uber Mat so I exnayed that method pretty quickly!

I began by laying down 2 coats of Opal Jamila from Gothic Gala. This is a white pearly polish with a strong scattered holographic glitter scattered throughout. If you think you may not be able to live without this color you should hurry over and purchase it today because I believe it is being taken off GG’s store tomorrow! Plus, it’s only $5 on sale! I then topcoated with KB Shimmer’s Clearly On Top.

Next I went ahead and prepped my cuticle area with liquid latex and I brought it all the way up to my second knuckle because I am a pretty messy splatter-er! I don’t recommend going that high unless you totally want to wax your hand though, trust my little invisible knuckle hairs that I never noticed before lol!

Next I took a standard size drinking straw (I used a red one from Sonic!) and dipped the tip (just the tip) of the straw directly into my polish bottle. The straw fits perfectly and that way it contains a little bit of the mess! I then held the straw around 6 inches away from my nail and blew forcibly from the end without polish. I repeated this step about twice per nail and I found the closer I got to my nail the less defined and more blobby my splatter turned out. I then allowed the splatter to dry for just a minute and then removed my liquid latex and topcoated with Clearly On Top once more. This is the finished result:

So that’s it for today, I’m really interested to see how long I can hang for doing a different nail art look each day on October, I totally almost gave up today! Thanks for reading along.
