Hey guys! Today I have some really quick swatches of the Zoya Matte Velvet Winter Holiday 2015 collection! If you loved the mattes from last year like I did I think you are really going to enjoy these as well! I will have a comparison post with some of the similar colors from last year’s Matte Velvet collection up A.S.A.P. This post will be quite photo heavy.
I’m going to begin with Aspen today, Aspen is the white of the collection. This one is a bit sheer and I did 3 thin coats. I think thin coats work best with most of the polishes in this collection as they have a hard time self-leveling. Every color dried extremely fast but still gave enough time to manipulate the polish (I tend to be an overworker and they all went on just fine for me!) I do recommend letting each coat dry thoroughly before moving on to the next to prevent dragging. Aspen is a beautiful crisp white with a ton of shimmer, it reminds me of the little bags of glittery fake snow!
Next up is Sue, Sue is more of a beige gold tone with a very soft glowy shimmer! I feel like this is the sheerest of all the formulas in this collection but it went on very smooth and built up nicely. The shimmer in this one look like teeny tiny flakies and I am all about it! This one was opaque right at 3 coats.
Next up is Amal and this is everything in the world I wanted Posh to be last year! It is a bright, fiery orange toned red with a ton of sparkle and looks beautiful both matte and glossy! Very pigmented and easy formula though it did want to run down my brush a bit. Completely opaque at 2 coats.
Next up is Iris, the purple of the collection. This polish falls somewhere in between Savita and Harlow from last years collection, I’ll have a comparison up as soon as I can. This dries to a bit of a darker jewel tone purple and this is one of the few polishes I prefer matte. Really easy, 2 coat formula.
Next up is Honor, the green from the 2015 collection. Very easy 2 coat formula, very shimmery and beautiful both matte and glossy! If you have Veruschka from the 2014 collection this is just a touch brighter so you may not need both, look for my comparison post up soon!
The last of the collection is Yves, this is a deep, beautiful, shimmery, true navy blue! Very pigmented easy formula though it wanted to run down my brush a bit as well. I feel like you could almost get away with 1 thicker coat of this blue, I wore this for a full day with basecoat and had no staining but others have reported staining so beware. This reminds me of a Dallas Cowboy type blue.
So all in all I think this is a great winter collection, I loved every shade although I wish they had gave us something different than the purple and green. Where is our true black matte velvet, Zoya? If you are planning on picking up this collection soon, Zoya is offering free shipping on them now with coupon code MATTES. Which shade is your favorite?
