Hey guys! Today I have a comparison of the clear Uber Mat by UberChic and both the clear and dark Stamping Mat from DRK Nails.

I’m going to begin with the UberChic mat, it measures 16 inches wide by 12 inches tall. It has a bit of give to it, and measures about 1 mm thick. It lays nice and flat and has a nice heft to it. The Uber Mat is a whitish clear color that is slightly transparent, I have been using this mat for a good bit as my background for filming! It cleans up easily and is great for making decals. I’ve found that it is necessary for me to lay down a coat of topcoat down before stamping to make a decal, and sticky stampers tend to pull the decal off before it’s time. Acetone resistant, this mat also has a nice grip on it to keep stamping plates still while you stamp. Loose glitter and the like can also be easily cleaned up by using a lint roller. Great all around mat, it does lack the color choices that the DRK mats offer. This one retails for $14.99 plus $5 shipping.

Next up is the clear Stamping Mat from DRK Nails. This mat measures 12×16″ but I did find it to be a little bit smaller than the Uber Mat. It has a good bit of stretch to it and measures about 1/2 mm thick. It lays pretty flat, it did have a little lip around the edge that kind of lifts up but it’s not a big deal.

It is discernibly lighter than the Uber Mat and just feels a little less sturdy. It has great flexibility and is a whiteish clear color, and maybe a bit more transparent than the Uber Mat. It is great for making decals although I needed to lay down a layer of topcoat before stamping. Sticky stampers will also peel your decal off before it is time to, DRK Nails ” recommend a medium firm silicone stamper. Konad rubber or marshmallow ones won’t work.” The DRK mats also have a row of color blobs near the top to test how different color combinations will look stamped. The DRK Mat also come in 4 different colors which is an awesome feature! Acetone resistant, this mat also has a nice grip on it to keep stamping plates still while you stamp. Loose glitter and the like can also be easily cleaned up by using a lint roller. These also retail for a cheaper price, coming in at $9.70 plus shipping which I believe is $3.

Lastly is the black stamping mat from DRK Nails. It has the same exact features as the clear mat except it is not transparent and it also had a larger lip that lifted up. On this one it does bother me a bit, it’s up near the color row so it almost looks like it got stretched too far during printing. I’m not sure if all of the black mats are like this or just mine.

I also found the black mat attracts lint like crazy! I used it for a bit as a background for filming and it attracted every bit of cottonball fluff within a mile radius lol! It cleans up easily with a lint roller but it seemed like it was just a magnet for lint. This mat also retails for $9.70 and about $3 shipping.

All in all, all 3 of these mats are good choices in terms of protecting your nail area, making decals, and ease of cleaning. I do prefer the Uber Mat due to it’s heft and it just feels a bit more sturdy to me. I appreciate the price of the DRK Mats much more though lol! Stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway featuring the clear DRK Mat coming soon! Thanks so much for reading along!
Great comparison! I got the pink DRK mat and I love it! I don’t have the uber mat one to compare it too. It seems really expensive for me.

I think it’s on the pricier side too, but the quality does reflect it!

Great comparison! My DRK mat (clear) also had the bend along the top edge, I thought it might be from the way it was folded during shipping. I like the translucency of the mat I got, I put a sheet of paper with nails printed on it for more guides. I don’t really like the placement of the ones on the mat, it’s a little awkward for me.

That is such a smart idea! I might get a clear one for myself since the one I have is going in my giveaway 😦

I think that is the smartest use of the translucency! I love your nail guides! I think it’s interesting tat your mat has a lip too, it’s not so bad on my clear but the black’s is bad. Thank you for reading!

I got the turquoise DRK mat and I am really loving it! Seeing the thickness comparison with the Uber, I do these were a bit stiffer, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me 🙂

I’m so glad you are enjoying it, I have major color regrets lol! That turquoise looked gorgeous!

Great review! I love my UberMat. The DRK seemed like a copy cat to me, like the hurried up and made one as soon as the UberMat came out.

I kind of got that vibe as well, and I think the quality of the printing and such reflects that a bit but I do love the price on it!

I almost bought a plain silicon mat but I really wanted the nail guides lol! I’m at a complete loss when I try to guesstimate nail size for decals haha!
